When You Give a Child the Ability to Pause, Everything Changes

Yoga and mindfulness class for kids

I've been thinking a lot lately about the people who show up for kids, the educators, community leaders, parents, and changemakers who genuinely care.
And honestly? We need more people like that in the world right now.

Our kids are navigating a world that moves way too fast, feels overwhelming most days, and it doesn't always give them the tools they need to slow down, understand what they're feeling, and respond in a healthy way.

And that's exactly where Yogi Squad comes in.

What We're Really Teaching

We exist to give children something that sounds simple... but is actually incredibly powerful.

The ability to pause.
To breathe.
To notice what's happening inside of them.
And to choose how they respond.

It's not rocket science.
But when you give a child those tools? It changes everything.

The Numbers Tell a Story (But They're Not the Whole Story)

This past year was huge for us.
Like, pinch-me-is-this-real huge.

In 2025 alone, Yogi Squad served 17,722 students, that's a 43% increase from the year before.

Each month, we're now reaching over 2,500 students and educators with consistent mindfulness and movement programming.

We delivered 929 classes, nearly doubling what we offered in 2024.

And through all that work, we shared:

  • Over 40,000 mindful minutes

  • 527 hours of movement

  • 314 hours of mindfulness practice

  • 261 hours of literacy-rich learning

  • 235 hours helping students rest, regulate, and reconnect to their bodies

This is what it looks like when prevention meets education.

But here's what I'm most proud of... and honestly, it's not the numbers.

What's Really Happening in the Classrooms

Right now, we're working deeply within 5 Title I campuses, where we're not just visiting for a one-off assembly.
We're becoming part of the school culture.

We're helping students build a shared emotional language, so when a kid says, "I'm feeling really big feelings right now," everyone knows what that means and how to help.

We're helping teachers feel more supported, because when 25 kids know how to self-regulate, classroom management becomes so much easier.

And we're creating classrooms that feel calmer, safer, and more connected.

We've also partnered with 32 schools and community organizations, expanding access to these tools far beyond a single campus.

Because this work? It doesn't belong in just one classroom.
It belongs in every community.

Why Our Approach Works

One of the things that makes Yogi Squad different is how we teach.

We don't just tell kids to "calm down" (which, let's be honest, has never worked for anyone ever).

We give them stories.
We give them movement.
We give them words for what they're feeling.

Because when students read a book about big emotions and then move their bodies to process those feelings? The learning sticks.

And when it sticks, it becomes something they carry with them for life.

A kindergartener who learns belly breathing today becomes a middle schooler who knows how to calm down before a test.
A third grader who practices mindful movement becomes a high schooler who can manage anxiety.
A child who feels safe in their body today becomes an adult who knows how to regulate their emotions.

That's the ripple effect we're creating.

The Reality: We're Growing Because the Need Is Growing

Here's the truth: we are growing quickly.
Not because we're trying to be the biggest, but because the need is exploding.

Schools are calling us, saying, "Can you come more often?"

Communities are asking, "Can you serve our families too?"

Teachers are telling us, "My students need this every single week."

And we're doing everything we can to meet that moment.

But we cannot do it alone.
